Picked these puppies up off of FB this morning for 275 clams......ones an MS170 and the other is an MS171. Good saws for cleaning up dropped tops and bucking small stuff as well as carving.......

If not requiring a lot of work and money and they are runners I would say you did alright. Small saws are handy to have around. If nothing else carry one in the truck for that unexpected time of coming across a little free BTU's

Heck, I don't even qualify as a New Englander... Gotta at least be east of the Hudson River to earn that title.

To all of us over here in the midwest New England means the colonies.

They're both in excellent running condition and aren't beat up. One has a 14" bar, the other is 16". Both chains are reported to be dull but sharpenable.

I pick them up this evening.....I'll check them out really good...;)

And to some of us further west of there, NE means Nebraska.

Isn't Wyoming where the lunar landing scenes were filmed?

I think the 171 is on sale during the Stihls dealer days promotion for $159 new with warranty.
I would give the dealer a call first.
I think if you buy a quart of motto mix they double the warranty for non-pro use

Some don't give these saws enough credit. Very handy home owner saw. I'd say you got a pretty fair deal. Eric VW seemed pretty pleased with the one he won!

Not to me, but then again, I lived in Maine for a while. Of the 13 original colonies, only, what like 4, are in New England .

My parents bought a new ms211cbzxdedsaf last year. I'm pretty impressed with it. Even with a 16" b&c it whizzed through good sized Red oak.

Small saws are fantastic to have and at times get the most use.
