Ive smoked fish in -20 c in my Bradly smoker but yeah the wind strips the heat from a smoker like nobody's business. I dont know what kind of smoker you have but creating a wind break can help. They look yummy. Im heading out to fish for some rocky mountain whitefish in an hour and plan on smoking them along with the trout I caught in my fly fishing thread. I look forward to hearing about your success!
Hey Sean, its a pellet grill/smoker, WWW, my husband, said they were Hickory pellets. Sorry if I confused anyone posting a mans hand instead of mine
AND yes, tastes wonderful. They are getting shipped off to Cal for the in-law family for Christmas. Still have a goose and a couple ducks to go, I will not be a taste tester for those.....
Never had goose before and its been so long since Ive had duck I dont know what it tastes like although any fowl that Ive done in the smoker has been awesome. Actually that did make me wonder... lol That looks like a pretty robust smoker so you probably didnt have much trouble with your temps eh?
Yep, not too much trouble with the temps, smoker kept up better than expected with the cold and wind, temps went down to 130 and up to 230 depending on the minute and the wind, he gave me frequent updates from checking it from the window where I sit
Yeah thats the way it goes right? I find the fun in it is trying to balance the weather with our plans for the perfect smoke. Glad it worked out.
Fingernail polish while he's sleeping???? Might get away with it! You'd only have to get his left thumb! Of course, the size of those mitts just might give it away too.... On the serious side, I have read where people make a wind break for the smoker. And I'm sure based on where you live, you have already thought of that! Also, some pics I've seen show the smoker wrapped with a comforter/quilt/moving blanket sort of thing! Not quite sure about that one.
Crap, i don't know how I missed this opportunity... So is WWW giving you a Christmas goose or are you giving a Christmas goose to him?
