IMG_0540.JPG IMG_0542.JPG I usually find myself cutting and hauling like crazy in December and January trying to get in as much as I can before heavy snow cuts my off. And with that, the wife and I run the splitter like crazy once I can get it out of the cellar and into the yard, once all the drifts have shrunk most of the snow has gone.
With an eye to the three year plan I've been taking advantage of a couple hours here and there, getting 2 or 3 loads each time I do.
I finished splitting and chucking what I had available today and decided it's time to measure.
In the shed I've got a little over 6 cord. In the pile a little over 8.5.
At 4.5 cord a season, I'm there! 3 years worth.
The interesting part is that at the measured pace to harvest and haul, it made more sense to split by hand a lot of the time. I'd say 6 of the cord in the pile were by hand.

Yup, a little here and there gets the job done.

Feels good to get a 3 Yr stash collected. I accomplished that earlier this spring. Feels good.

    Congrats!

I'm waitin' on cooler weather to attack my rounds mountain. I'm 3-4 yrs ahead so it's no hurry. That's the joy of it.

I've got two white oak trees logs stacked up aside my driveway. I'm just waiting on cooler weather to C/S/S. I'm 3 or 4 years ahead so it can wait for cooler weather. Probably won't be until Novembre . Trees were cut down in June and I wasn't getting to them so I stacked the logs so I could cut the lawn. Kind of a there's-no-rush plan B.

I'm kinda on a jag now.
I enjoy the process without the urgency. Marathon not a sprint.
And then there is the hoarding issue.....piles and stacks, piles and stacks.

I think I'll make this my personal motto: "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time..." The little hour or two sessions really add up. Nice work!

    I'm focusing on the monkey!
    Point is taken.
I have a friend with a wood boiler who's measure is a tank through the saw a week, on average.

Yep. Running a boiler is lots of work, but it sure beats paying the oil man! Three year plan will probably never happen, but if I can bust my hump I might hit the two year mark css with this load of sugar maple that just turned up next to the driveway.

Being 3 years ahead is such a great feeling. Once you get there all you need to do is replace what you use. I went into the summer 3 years ahead. A deal came my way I could pass up now I'm 4 years ahead, and I sold a little to help pay for fuel and maintenance.

Congratulations! For sure that has to be a great feeling to finally get to the 3 year point. I recall when many moons ago I was injured and we got way behind. It took us a while but we finally got back to where we needed to be and what a relief that was. Hopefully we'll never get behind again.

Give him 100 of your trees Backwoods Savage, also might need to get walt, Scotty Overkill, and Shawn Curry to cut them down, while the 30-40 rest of us make more sawdust than the local landscaping crews could ever lay in a day. Better get you and Eric VW for the pictures... uh HDRock and I will provide the libations, TurboDiesel can bbq. Hey we're all set!
