Got it fixed. Still troubleshooting some stuff, something I changed a while and didn't notice, I guess.

Sorry I didn't get right back to you, was watching the Bruins game. No, I didn't burn either. Was like you, 70 inside and 55 out.

I still get an error message occasionally . The bad gateway thing went away, but since then I keep getting a server /page not available which is usually attributable to my wireless router (like when I get out of range or when a site is gone ) . But I only get them for this site. The page does load after a few seconds pause. More weird than annoying. Could be on my end but I've reset everything I can think of.

Not on your end-- this is new since our server issues. It's something I'm working on.

Should have known you were a Linux guy. Our IT guy at work is one too. You're hardcore. We're in good hands. :)

Not too hardcore lol, you would be surprised how easy some Linux installations have gotten. The hardcore part was figuring out how to get windows 8 off of my new laptop because they had the thing boot Locked!

My experience has been that Linux can be easier than windows to install. As long as the distro has the drivers you need.

Yes sir. It can also be as easy to use as windows. It's just that you have to learn something new.

Yes that's true.. Problem is I prefer many windows apps including MS office which I get for peanuts. My company has the HUP program which is a bargain.. I played with WINE which kinda works but usually not so good for running Windows apps and generally better with old Windows apps for which it has the DLL's.. Basically I stick with Windows now and they got Windows 7 right in my opinion..

Windows 7 is really good, but is a resource hog on older equipment. That's why I ended up switching.

You're being humble, I'll bet you use command line. :)

Our IT guy has a few of us using linux now too. We've tried a few different flavors, I like ubuntu quite a bit. I'm envisioning a microsoft-free future. We moved from outlook to gmail, we're using Google docs, and if that doesn't work, there's always Libre office. The future is now!

That's at work. At home, I'm still using XP. :emb: I spend so much time on FHC I don't have time to install linux on my own computer!

Ubuntu is good, it's what mint is based off of-- and what I want the FHC server to run on. I like Libre Office better than Ms office.

I've used everything all the way back to mandrake back in 99 2000 some thing like that and I'll tell ya what the new distro for the server in Ubuntu is a thing of beauty.............. Almost no command line! Man that gets old lol. I'm suprised at just how far Lunix / Unix has come in the last 5 years it really can and in many classes does replace windows and unix systems. My play computer gets used more than my actual main computer lol. Ubuntu / RedHat now days on the play machine. Love em both!

Mandrake is what I was using back in 99. Only thing was I had to buy a non-win modem. Grrr!
