Finally had a fire at the cottage. Sat evening was the lucky night as the breeze was strong enough to keep those dammed skeeters away while we burned.

How did I miss this thread???

I've still got the old Keyhole pit, we've been using it hard all summer. It's going to be moved and rebuilt over by the patio here in the next month or so, we're also still going to bus the fireplace/pizza oven as well.....I'll update my patio thread soon.

We had some MAJOR issues with the concrete contractor. He and his partner turned out to be BUMS. Screwed up my entire summer, put me back almost two months on this project.

Anyway, here's the keyhole cooking some grub from the other night.....

I have a few fire pits scattered around the property... This is probably my favorite.

Cool campfire in the rock arch on our property.jpg

Please quit using it! Although it really looks great, I lost a friend due to fire building in caves/overhangs such as that one. The roof collapsed on him giving him no warning and no chance.

The fire pit is actually just on the outside of the rock arch.

The roof collapsed because of multiple fires there. It was a common site for fires/parties. Its understandable because of the natural beauty of a place like that. That local authorities had closed it off with signs and fencing but you just followed the path around the fences to get to the spot. Too hard to enforce, I guess. Then their worst fears were confirmed.
