I was messing around with my 250 last week. Here is a video of the MS250 vs a stock 026. Both saws have .325 RS. The 250 is on the 7t spur and the 026 has an 8t rim. The 250 screams pretty good for a homeowner saw.
great Video 94BULLITT I particularly like that you cut rounds not cookies.. not trying to be negative but when you cut rounds ya get firewood when ya cut cookies you get bonfire wood. I need more firewood!
When cutting hardwood, they make excellent cooking fuel for charcoal grills or firepits. You can create an awesome coal bed.
A good muff mod on a 250 makes a screaming saw! Here is my 021 and 025 (same muff mod/ very large!!) and my MS460 at the end with the stock port opened up to a 3/4", another port on the opposite side that's 1/2" and a double barrel (1/2" each) out the front). Going to Dennis' GTG in 2 weeks and I wanted to let folks know to bring hearing protection. Pizz revving at the highest level!!!
Thanks. I did cut some cookies when I was testing the mods. I'm not sure I'm happy with how it is cutting, I have got another muffler to do some testing. When we cut firewood we will race sometimes like in the video. Then other times we will have our own log and see who can cut it up faster. Sometimes my Dad does not know we are racing
In real life? The 460 is louder. In the video? At least to me, the 250 has more rasp and is louder. The 460 still revs faster and higher than all three!
I understand.. and I am glad to have you saw nutz... You definitely have right to have fun... don't get me wrong.. just wish there was a way too donate the left overs... easier.. idk.. maybe saw dust chips to animal shelter for bedding something... or cookie to a local with outdoor boiler...
In all fairness #1 the chain needs touched up, #2 I have 3/8 on it and 3rd it's a pretty big log that is soaking wet. I think .325 would be better. Pretty sure I had a small air leak on one of the transfer covers on my last vids. Idle is perfect now. Eager to see how it does in a square log.
Looks good and I know videos are all different. But I'd open up that muffler more. Needs more bark! Not sure how you did the muff mod, but a big hole front and center will help a lot! Hedgerow had 2 of the meanest saws I've ever heard at the GTG a few weeks ago and the muff mod was twice as big as most would do!! And they were fast!
