I went to my camp this weekend with the intention of making stew for Saturday dinner. When I was about half way there I realized that I forgot my dutch oven. On a whim I ran into an Ace Hardware and found a Lodge 12" 'leggy' oven.

The stew came out excellent, just had one beer to many and forgot to take pictures of the final product. Getting a fire going in the snow is a PITA. My coals were getting drowned out by the snow melt among other things.

I could do without the bay leaf, never was a fan of that flavor. Everything else sounds delicious!

I'm a sucker for cooking on the fire, especially in the snow!! Love those dutchies too. Thanks for sharing!
