It was in the 70's yesterday so no fires for me :{ I've hardly burned anything this year. Even with no heat running and no fire for several days, the house was 70 when I woke up. The cold will come.
That is not only a work of Art, but testament that something built so well, someone may be using it for more than 200 years later. That's more amazing than I can fathom Scotty.
Thanks for the compliments, but it's not anything super special. It's built correctly, and I'm certainly hoping it lasts for many years.....I know one thing, it easily heats the house and does it very efficiently.
You're modest in that regard, the quality shows nonetheless. I hope this has been posted in a magazine or the like. Worth noting your project and I did read the installation thread.
Rumford fire place ( I think I spelled it correctly) large stone mass with air channels incorporated to move room air through via natural convention as the stone is heated by the fire
Oh, ok. No, this fireplace is a Napoleon NZ3000, zero clearance fireplace. I did the side and top vents to allow the chase that the fireplace is installed in to circulate air, so mold wouldn't form in the summer and heat could escape in the winter.
So yes, loosely based on a Rumford . just using the stove for a more efficient burn than an open hearth of a traditional Rumford design. Any way very nicely done.
Buck model 74. Rolling and cranking heat. Wood is not quite dry enough but I'm keeping 350 degree chimney temps. No smoke from chimney.
