Got a little lucky tonight, bagged two of the bastidges. Beautiful tails.
Tips on preserving them would be appreciated. Both are 60 minutes old, wired up in the garage.
I'll need to act on them tomorrow, thanks in advance.
edit- Keeping just one, the other isn't in good shape. thx.

So, I found a good reference from AUS on this.
Chuck the tail bone in a vise, split the tail with a razor or sharp knife along the tail bone. Flesh any meat off the tail as you peel it. Give it a twist and tug, the tail should come off. (Don't do this- it separates at the end of the cut.) Just cut further until the bone becomes less than pencil sized.
Salt or Borax, then sew it up. I salted, then wrapped the tail around a green Aspen stem. Zip tied, I was not prepared to sew it back up.
So we'll see what happens. Worst case, a buddy of mine has material for tying flies.
