New store Runnings coming

There's an article in the paper saying a new store called "Runnings" is coming in the spring, they will take over a large space vacated last year by K-Mart in a local shopping plaza.

Never heard of this store before, don't think there are any others around here in NE. The article says they are an outdoor, farm, garden, fishing, pet supply etc. store based out of Minnesota. Appears they sell pellets and stoves too. Should give the TSC some competition, they will be almost across the street from each other.

Anyone heard of this store chain before?

 

Wait, looks like there is one other NE store location - Claremont, NH.

just checked out their website and the product line looks very similar to TSC

 

If they are like the Running's stores in MN you will like them...they have a HUGE selection of tools, tool boxes, chain saws and most things male oriented... I found them two years ago when delivering to a warehouse in MN. I've bought a few hundred $$$ worth of stuff in three or four visits.

 

I heard about them a couple of weeks ago - new said they were expanding. I didn't know about the one in Claremont. Not that I ever get out that way anyway. Runnings, who named it so the name had nothing to do with their offerings? Sounds like a shoe store so I would never go in there if I hadn't heard about them, just from the name.

 

Nice to see a few CT Nutmegers on this post! I’ve also never heard of this store. Jtakeman, I see your profile says NW CT foothills. I grew up in out that way, in Winsted, but haven’t lived out there for 20 years. My parents and much of my family are still out that way spanning quite a few towns out in Litchfield County.

We frequent the Claremont store. Wide variety, generally larger with more selection than TSC. (Located in an empty Lowes)

 

Rumored to also be expanding into the empty Walmart in Hinsdale, NH, just across the river from Brattleboro. I haven’t seen that rumor confirmed in print, but would make sense from a distribution route perspective.

 

Of course wherever the go in NH, they won't be anywhere close to me

 

I grew up on the other side of Main Street, pretty close to the Library. May dad still lives in town, right near the lake, on Superior. I get out there every once in a while when he needs a hand.

Good ole Hinsdale. I grew up there. I might have to give my brother a call who is still there and see if he has heard anything.

 

Runnings to open in old Walmart building

I work just across the river, on the VT side, but don’t live in Bratt and only sort-of follow their local news.

 

My brother works in Bratt too.

Small world! Our weekend house is just north of Bratt. We'll have to check out Runnings when it opens up in the old Wal-Mart up there.

 

I hear they have plans to replace the bridges between Bratt and Hinsdale. That ought to create quite a mess.
