Thanks CoreyB and Bella. Nice video and nice looking new hookaroon. I like the look of the new Husqvarna hookaroon.
I just hope that they get them down under here. I'm going to drop by the local Husqvarna dealer tomorrow and see my mate Andre and put the hard word on him.

I hope so go Fiskar has a hookaroon but I can't find them anywhere here. They are in the States but the selection up here sucks. I might have to commission my Blacksmithing friend to forge me one.

So far I like them. But I haven't got a ton of work on them yet. I stock them at work. If you want a pair I can ship them. But any husqvarna dealer should be able to get you some.

    Thistle...on that Austrian one.

    1) The EBAY price is TERRIBLE. If you really want one, this is a Canadian company that sells stuff in the U.S. too:
    Pickaroon - Lee Valley Tools

I also find it misleading to sell this thing as "vintage". It might be used, but it's not an antique.

    2) As far as that specific tool goes, I wasn't a fan. I bought one last year. Found it too short for my needs, didn't like the quality of the handle (though I could fix that) and, most importantly, the head loosened after not too long, and not really hard use. I also found it was tough to get out of the wood.

I had it in a trailer on my property...trailer got broken into and they stole that but left other stuff behind (fiskars axe, husqvarna forest axe). So in a way I was happy.

I bought the logrite and love it.

I have the Austrian one from Lee Valley and have had the opposite experience. I like the size as it fits easily in my storage seat of my quad. There are times I would like a longer handle but hasn't been an issue yet. I find it pretty easy to get unstuck from the wood but it's the only picaroon I have used so my opinion should be taken with a grain of salt. The handle isn't the best but has not loosened in a few months that I have been using it.

That's why you should always get a second opinion. Glad it's working for you. I was mostly disappointed by the head loosening, though I guess that can happen. Otherwise, I would maybe have sanded down the handle and applied some linseed oil and it would have been fine.

That Hipps thistle put up looks pretty nice. And generally I do prefer the wood handles. But the logrite feels fine for me, quality build. Made in USA too.
