I wanted some easy access Ash and my neighbor wanted these two Ash down and away from her barn. You can have the wood. Okay then. One down today.
Yes. This tree is almost all bucked up now. I'll clean this tree up this afternoon, and move the wood to the processing area, hopefully it does not rain. Then I have some other things to do today. The second, harder tree, will have to wait for another day.
Know the feeling. A week ago I had a 90' pine with a 34" base leaning over my shed. The trunk was about 18" from the shed. Had several tree companies come in and look at it. All said a crane was the only option. Got hooked up with a fella from over in Quebec. Guy has been loggin for about 28 years. He took one look at it and said he could pull it backwards away from the shed into the woods behind. Long story short, he showed up with two helpers and his wrecker with a 150' of heavy cable. They arrived @ 10:06 in the morning, had the tree down in the exact spot he wanted to put it in @ 10:38. Cleaned up the whole mess really well and they pulled out @ 11:20. Every body Happy,Happy, Happy. By the way the price was 200. cheaper than any of the others, and they weren't cleaning anything up.
The "barn" roof is very, very thin metal. Like take the aluminum foil you wrap your samich in and times it by 10 for thickness. All it is good for is shedding rain and snow. That's it. So she's worried about these trees for years. I'll bring the other one down sometime this weekend. I'll prolly put an extra rope on that one tied off to another tree. Just in case.
Thanks guys. A lot of people don't realize the amount of work that goes into cutting firewood. People that cut it do, but others don't. Or maybe they do and that is why they don't cut it. LOL
Your absolutely correct. Great work gas. Nice looking rounds you got there . Nice pick up as well. Keep up the hard work...
I goofed in that one post. Not 1.5 cord. I meant a little over .5 cord. Or a little over 1.5 face cord. Measurements work out to about 0.65 cord. My bad.
LOL I don't know what you mean? My wood is completely seasoned already. Ya, I cut it today. And I have had it stacked in the back of my truck while I drove down the highway at 55 miles an hour. All that wind drys it right out! Really!
