Man that is one big tree, what species is it? Maybe noodle vertically down the tree and then cut horizontally to break it off piece by piece? Sorry never really dealt with anything bigger than 20" or so.
I would start cutting from the "gooder" side so the tip of your bar ends up in the rotted part. Or if starting to cut from the rotted side works best, do that. When I started cutting (the 310 was my first saw) I had a tree down that was bigger than the bar could cut from one side, I just cut from both sides.
Do this. Or buy one of these.... Or something like this... Or buy that 046 that's in the classifieds.
Just put a big bar on it, 28 or 32 will give you alot more reach. Ya i know a 32 inch bar on a 362 is a bit much, but if you put skip chain on it it will get er done.
Pictures like that make he happy I am in the Firewood Cutters T-Ball league. Way out of my league ... good luck with that one!
No problem. You can always cut a wedge out of the top and then finish the cut. As for the rot, no problem cutting there if you work both sides but you probably will find the rot does not go all the way up. Another way is to cut as much as you can and then sometimes you can break off the center (part you could not reach with the saw) using a few wedges.
