This was a dead pine that we decided to take down, we decided that we would use a cable hooked up to the winch cable and the rhino to pull it down.

I notched the front with the 310, I had told my wife that after I started to make the back cut with the pole saw, I would give her a signal to pull it down with the rhino, I must have gave her the signal a bit early :hair: the next thing I see is the roots coming out of the ground but it landed where we wanted it and I was gone out my escape route once I saw the earth move.

We'll burn this pine come fall.

We have another bigger dead pine just south of the one we took down today, I'm thinking we'll do that this week.

We'll make sure on the signals before we get going.

This was more of a shallow root base but it has been a work horse.

She did you a favor and pulled out the primo fat wood for you! The stumps and roots of standing dead pines collect the most pitch deposits.

We'll check out how stable the root system is on our next victim before we get going.

It's not very far from where we stack some shoulder season wood, if the first half of tomorrow will be nice we might drop it tomorrow.

Still wondering here why you bothered winching over a sickly skinny little POS like that pine. Coulda pushed it over by hand, I'll bet.

Looks like it was about 8" DBH, maybe 15' of the poor decrepit thing left. Here's hoping the next one's worth your trip!

Trip? It's not far from the house. The top was rotten and it had to come through some branches on another tree, in my opinion this was the safest way.

The tree was split up the middle so if you want go ahead and push it over go ahead, we'll do it the way we feel is the safest.

Nice job, glad it all ended well. I split some locust up this weekend that I immediately put in the shed as I was also getting reading that were below 18% on it. It will be awesome come January!

Now, now. Nothing to get testy about. No way was I telling you what to do, just joking about seeming overkill for a toothpick. :faint:
Kindly don't go telling me what to do either. Sense of humor, a BIG PLUS.

I think that was a great story made me smile. I guess those rhino's have some pretty good power. Maybe a hand signal would be better next time.
