Chimney pipe showed up so I can add another section to the chimney. Should make my 8" chimney draft a little bit better, it's been working fine I just think it could be a little better.
Maybe our resident engineer or someone inclined in math can tell us the expected bump in performance % wise.
It took some help from the forums and some research to figure out what I needed because there are no numbers or names stamped on these chimney parts, chimney was here when I bought the house, 25 years ago. Figured out it was Selkirk metalbestos,, what I bought was Selkirk sure temp and it fits perfectly Total above the roof 5' 3" I have one more locking band on the way, this chimney never had any of those on it, one came with the new pipe.
Fired it up, so far I think it's doing a little better at these temperature is a good time to check draft I was able to close the door sooner, dial down the air a little sooner and is taking less air sitting than usual. Secondaries are doing good at a lower pipe temperature
Good going. I would like to add another section to my chimney but it would mean renting a scissors lift.
More testing in the middle of the week, 77 today 78 tomorrow, that's fine with me though, I have all winter to test it out
How much for one of those? Would it be less to just buy a $100 extension ladder (or whatever they're going for)?
