Well, it's been a long time coming. About 2 years. I had a 455 that I loved at one point in time. Then got a 036 Pro (that was the bug that bit me) and sold everything Homeowner I had.

Fast forward to today. I just got a 55 Rancher from the Postman :) The 455 was nice, but the 55 has many nicer features and isn't a plastic whale (clamshell) of a saw. Pretty excited actually.

Had to post some pics of it. I may snap some with its brother later (550xp) tomorrow? :)

Will be searching for a 16" bar set up for the 55 as well. My 455 had a 20" and ran well. But before I sold it, I put a 16" Bar on it and it seemed like twice the saw. This one has an 18" (3/8") on it now, but still want to drop it down.

(Side note- The 441 was shipped out to TN today :))

Please do. The 44, 51, 55, and 61 are some awesome firewood saws.

Nice saw, but you need to bump the handle with another saw to give it some character...

Discontinuing the 55 Rancher was the best thing Husqvarna ever did for Stihl's sales.... o_O

Nice!! How old is that pic Dave? Is it recent? That saw looks to be in great shape!

I'm hoping it is eye opening. Because as it stands now? I am unimpressed. Does it start well? Yes. Sip fuel? Yes. Have gobs of power? Nope. The 20 some year old 044 I got rid of had more snot than this thing.

If it can't at least run with my 460 when it returns? This saw is gonna have a lonely life stuffed back in my lock box.

This 55 is light, nimble, and man is it purdy! :)

Why Husq went from Mag cases to plastic? ? Is beyond me.

Nice 55 rancher! My dad had a 55 and I loved it. Wish he would have never sold it.

So, the 044 uses more fuel?

It's not an "M" issue is it? Don't want to start that all over again, but I just wonder.

No. The M - tonic works great. It's just for a 70cc saw, it should run better, in my opinion. My 460 is about 5cc more and blows it's doors off.

Nothing wrong with the 441. And after seeing and hearing what Randy can do for it? I think I am gonna love this saw when it returns. But until then, I am unimpressed. A 70cc saw should have more snap and snot.

I never asked what hos turn around time is, but it's normally at least a couple weeks, if not more. I'm in no hurry. I just cut up my log load, so I have to split it now. I ordered another log load already. This one should have been done in the Spring of last year, but with the Sciatica issues I had, it was put off until now. So I have another load scheduled in about a month or so. I plan to use the 441 for that entire load. :)

I'm thinking the strong points of the 441 are working against it in your case. Smooth AV and quiet performance has a way of fooling us. I'm willing to bet that it would be equal or better to your old 044. But a saw with a bit of shake rattle and roll, not to mention some noise, is going to "feel" more powerful.

Have faith in the Chimp. I think you're gonna find yourself pulling the trigger on a 'Vette instead of a Chevelle.

Timed cuts don't lie. Yeah it's quiet, but it's also slow. I am not gonna a port my 460 before the GTG. Just so I can compare it to the other 460's. Every so often they make a saw that just runs "GOOD". My 460 is one of those. It's violent in the cut. That saw will want to rip out of your hands.

I know your a Mtronic lover, and the AV is nice, as is the fuel mileage. But I like loud and fast saws. I cut all my wood at once. I don't need the smoothest saw. I want a fast saw that runs like an animal. Something that I am hoping it returns as. I don't know if yours or Firecrackers will be ported by then, but I hope to compare it to stock. I should have saved a log or a Cant and made 4 or 5 cuts and done the same when it returned.
