I have a Husqvarna 460 Rancher that leaks bar oil when in off season storage. It appears to be the changes in barometric pressure that slowly pumps the reservoir dry. During the cutting season I may find a drop or two of bar oil in the case when I take it out. When it sits for a couple of months there is a puddle under the saw. I'm guessing that a drop in barometric pressure forces a little oil out, a rise in pressure forces some air back in. Over time this can create a mess. Has anybody else seen this? Now, if I remember, I drain the saw before I put it away. The oiler works fine when the saw is in use and I have had no other problems with it. KaptJaq
My 450 does the same thing. Temp rise causes pressure ro build and push the oil out is my guess. I just throw an old rag under it and toss it when it gets too soaked.
Mine does the same thing , I went to the carpet shop and got a couple of carpet samples , when they get saturated get a fresh one, the carpet shop gives you them for free, my saw is resting on a beautiful purple color !!!!
My 359 also leaks in storage...was told it might be the a connection in the line. Funny, never had that problem with my trusty 029!
This issue isn't brand specific. I've had at least 15 saws (3 brands) and they've all done it at some point, but not all the time.
Even my knock off husky (earthquake) does it. Stihls sometimes do it but not to the same degree a husky does.
