No, they are priced pretty decent. My BIL has a SBE2 that I'm in love with, but can't part with the $1,700 to get my own.
If you want to play around, pick up a "Shockwave Tech" Raptor grip. Birds head style. I have one on my H&R Pardner 12g. You don't aim with it, you point- hip shooting or up to your chest at most. It's very instinctive shooting with it. It also helps to minimize felt recoil, even with slugs.
Thought the sx3 still held the title for fastest shotty. I personally hate the feel of most Benellis, most FNs are known for ergos. I'll havta handle one. I would NEVER replace my Mossberg with one.
It's what poor folks did to make a slug from bird shot - Old Barry taught me how to make them years ago. They are fun and will tear some stuff up but a bad idea for HD scenario should a pellet fall into the trigger mechanism. Different story launching them from a .410 wheel gun
Remington 1100 12 gauge in the 3" Magnum semi auto 26" Improved Cylinder barrel to get the party started quickly. Just point and pull the trigger baby , no fumbling with a pump in a tight situation. With the 3" Magnum 1100 series no issues with jams on low recoil a tried and true model been around for years. Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
Any proven pump is a winner. I'd probably go 20 for a lady. Pretty much any kind of load will end an intruder' s day. I have a short barrel mossberg 500 12 but it never leaves the safe. It's loaded with buck that could reach the end of the driveway in a real oddball scenario. Something like steel duck loads would still keep anyone out of the house and not travel as far. I'm not leaving a long gun out of the safe all the time and I'm not getting it out/locking it up all the time as I come and go. The 9mm I carry all the time is my home defense gun. It's loaded with 15 rounds and I keep a 33rd mag on the nightstand...mostly because I can. A pistol is just more handy. I'm not a fan of the Taurus judge, but for a lady (or anyone not real familiar with guns) I think it's a decent home defense option. Easy operation, easy maneuverability in close quarters, and a big spread for in house distances. If one of the women in my family only had a judge in her house, I would not feel like she's vulnerable. As to the original question, pretty much any pump with a shortish barrel from a reputable manufacturer will do. Load the tube with about any kind of load and it'll keep bad guys out.
I like it, I put an extension tube on mine now it holds 2 extra rounds......Here is the only other that I really like.
OP mentioned overkill? Benelli M4. Don't think I'm being obtuse, but if she is small framed, which it sounds, look at some youth models in .20ga. They will have a shorter length of pull and she should be in a more natural shooting position enabling her to better deal with recoil. Pump is a good route as they are pretty simple. 870s aren't what they used to be. In your friends shoes (sounds as if he wants her to be able to defend herself if he isn't around) I would go this route. Nova .20 youth pump. Should be dead reliable and manageable for her. Get some 4 or 6 shot high brass. Benelli Nova Compact Pump-Action Youth Shotgun | Bass Pro Shops Training! Can't stress it enough, especially for new shooters. Practice will beget familiarity with the gun and it's controls. If she ever needs it, stress levels will be off the chart. It needs to become almost second nature in order to be effective. I might also suggest a 10/22 or similar. 22 caliber rifle for practicing trigger control and general shooting skills as it is cheap to shoot and very low recoil. She may get shy if the first gun she ever fires is a 12 or 20ga. Start with the. 22 and then graduate to the shotgun. My .02. Your mileage may vary.
Cool ought to handle easy, main thing you now have one, which ever brand......... Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
