While my daughter was taking a nap this morning, I got a bit of this done today. Nice to have bought these as they only required a little bit of time with the chop saw. If you recall these bundles, these were the cabinetry cut-offs I bought back in April. They work for the stove, width wise but probably a better option to use them as kindling since they are so dry and perfectly sized for that. This is covered for the season for the most part.
Yep those should work good. I too have my kindling done. I cut 2x4 in half for my kindling. That should last you awhile.
Nice! I grabbed a bunch of kitty litter buckets and used those for some white pine or poplar boards. Those are next in the line up to process. Otherwise Im set for material. Do you just use a hatchet to get that stuff smaller Canadian border VT?
heck no less than 2 inches thick run them thru chop saw at 8 inches long mine are all cherry maple or black walnut some thicker to paper thin as they shape head boards
Oh ok What I meant was the 2x4 looking stuff. This is one of my pine or poplar boards. Not much longer than 10 inches. Couple hatchet cuts later down the middle... Then it gets to be like this. Just wondered if you do the same
Yep, got mine ready and when I came out of the woods hunting yesterday I had another bag full by my truck.
I am on the two year plan for kindling. First pic is for next year. Second pic is what I am using this year.
Thanks FatBoy85 I have around 12 cords of wood in the pole barn. It takes a lot of work to fill it up cause I cut my wood at 12 inches. I have a small insert for burning.
My father builds Urns and Caskets for a local funeral home so I get plenty of scrap wood from him to use as kindling. I also will take boards out of our old sawmill and cut that up and use it, so I have plenty. The boys on the coal forum have a thing called "One match" where they have bragging rights if they can light a fire for the season and have their coal burn steady all winter, but I have no such lofty goals. At my place I kindle a fire nearly daily this time of year, and almost as much through the winter.
I have 3 large boxes of splinters that come off the splitter stocked in my wood bin. Also have about 100 pieces of 12 inch cut offs from a home being built down the road. Just have to wack them up into kindling.
Kindling taking up space in the shed... Kindling in the basement, free from a shed building place... Other kindling stuffed wherever it will fit...Yeah I have enuf!
I use sticks and branches for kindling. I havev a brush pile that I pull from throughout the heating season. I keep a white bucket full of it, near the wood stack that I pull from when feeding the stove. I find this to be more than sufficient for my heating needs Sent from my SM-T280 using Tapatalk
