Hamster advice please? In the market for one, local pet store has 3 month old ones and 5 week old ones in late sept, but I kinda don't want to wait. No doubt you parents know after you add up the cage and accessories it can get $$. Found 2 for sale here (the kids are allergic) for $50, everything included, they are 1 year old. I hesitate because my darling lil one loves our wildcat Lila, cat can be very sweet alot of the time but will also nail poor lil one with no warning, I want a really gentle pet for her, you know? That said, Lila wildcat is a hunter, she brings back dead rodents and birds atleast once a day. Any idea on reinforcing the cage if she gets frisky with the hamster cage? Young one that will cost more or adopting the older ones for sale?
Your wild one will eat a hamster. Hamsters can bite, and they are escape artist. 5 of my six Himalayan cats are of the Rag doll type. They go limp when you pick them up. no biting, no scratching. None ever going on three years now. They are absolute indoor cats. We did the bird, hamster, fish, Guinea Pig, rabbit things with our 4 kids. They loose interest in the pet after a short time. Only the cats and dogs well in the long run. Maybe need to get little one a camera and get her interested in taking pictures of her pets and their funny behaviors. Maybe have her make a scrap book with her pictures. Can hold her interest for a long time.
I know you are right Larry Heres proof for you, the dogs- blondie on the left and blackie on the right laying down.
I'm unsure why, if the little one showed little interest in the rabbits (which I believe is the main reason you gave them away after such a short time), why you believe a hamster would be better. That, along with the cat (and yes, hamsters will escape in ways you never expect - leading to at the least, a wild chase, at worst unhappy people), my opinion is you shouldn't do it at all. PS - The not wanting to wait thing is a big tip off to me that this is a passing phase. It's a flag that says you want to get it done before someone (you, kiddo, hubby) changes their mind. Changing minds after obtaining the pet is not good for any of the parties involved, especially the pet.
Yikes I am not the pet owner you portrayed in your post and like you responded to in a previous post of mine "you don't know what others people situation is", right?. Namaste
It shouldn't cost much to set up a hamster cage. Most people use an aquarium. 10g aquariums are cheap. Petco used to have sales every so often with aquariums being $1 per gallon. And theyre a common item at goodwill and yard sales. Just make sure the lid is secure.
A big couple of days for Little Timber. I got her out for some off leash work monday, with my dad helping by providing gunfire in the background. On Tuesday I took her on a hike to fish a small creek. The switch really went on in her head about catching fish. She was so excited every time I brought one in!
I'm sorry if I offended you or you thought I was trying to make you sound like a bad person. That is not what I meant at all. PS, I believe you are misremembering what I said and the context I said it in, but that is okay, I don't take offense .
That one of her on the brush pile with the mountains in the background is an outstanding picture. I would have that one made up special if it were my fur friend. thank you for sharing.
Good day to be a dog. Like most mornings, Timber went to the beach. The eclipse was a disappointment but the low tide exposed lots of sand, mud, and critters. When we got home, she dried off in the sun while I had coffee on the deck. Now I'm gonna see if I have the right scrap wood in the garage to build her some steps for getting on the bed.
Someone in Wyoming posted this gorgeous pic tonight. Not usually this perty, but this is the lake(s) that Blondie ended up in.
