Just ran across some good deals on this stuff... suppose it might get work.... All seriousness that is what I do red or orange for cut and blue for try not to destroy while cutting
Since Locust Post brought up surveyors tape, use a drone to place surveyors tape in the very tippy top of the tree...then you will be able to see it on Google Earth...and google can find anything, right?
If nothing else you could poak around a bit and locate the feed thong areas. I know Google would be helpful for that.
Sort of a long thread just for talking about some dead trees... But at least it got settled that surveyor's tape might work.
Went on a tour last weekend to ID the standing dead. Almost convinced myself I'll remember which ones were which. Almost. Blue paint is the way to go. On my tour I saw this 20" standing oak with an 8" Ash in the way. It had a blue stripe on it from a forester 30+ years ago. ( almost directly below the saw), well before I owned the property. I don't know what that blue was for, but 30 years ago it was a much lesser tree and it's only 8" now. Dropped this oak this afternoon. Beauty!
Blue paint on trees, can be a way to mark a trail through the woods. I know that's the case in a number of places. Then again, blue paint on a tree, could just be, blue paint on a tree.
Around here they use blue paint to mark trees they don't want to cut. Looks like a good thing you got that oak. It will give you nice heat.
