I have 22 acres and I have trouble keeping track of the trees I want to cut. During the summer I go around and spray paint all of the dead tree because in the winter it's hard for me to determine which trees are dying. The problem I have is I forget where they are and miss some each year. It ain't that big of a deal but we like to GBTR! I'm almost thinking of making a crude map and marking where they are. In some places there are so many trees the paint can be hard to see. Any idears?
Get a roll of bright surveyors tape and wrap some around each tree.. the tree will be visible from all sides
Or get some surveyor's tape. Cheap but makes good markers and won't fade in the sun. I usually don't have any problem in winter telling which trees are alive and which aren't.
My best success is a ring of bright BLUE tree marking paint around trees you want to cut. I have found trees with blue paint, years after they were marked. It's the one color I can always spot in the woods. Look up Logrite Tools, they make cant hooks and peaveys, and the color they paint their tools is the color I use.
Seems to me like you could use GPS like on your phone to map out all your trees, maybe with another app or something, not really sure about any of this but seems like you could do it. walk up to the tree, save the coordinates. Maybe they have a GPS mapping app or something
I believe Google maps let's you save points and label them. It'll get you close to where the trees are.
