Wasn't sure where to put this, but here's a fun explanation of how the Final Four basketball court was made... See how the Men's Final Four court is made!
The floors are only used for three game so was curious and had to do some research to see what happens. Fortunately, the floors get another life or sometimes 2. Most of the winning teams have purchased that floor over the years and most are still in use weather it be at the college or post college use at other facilities. Some of the floor after several years use have been donated for their 3rd life.
My friend Greg who helped me build the restaurant booths, gave me a work bench with a top that was made from an old bowling alley. Takes 4 grown men to lift the thing.
Actually it looks like the top is fastened together with long bolts or threaded rods. It's about 8'x3' with a 3" thick hardwood top; the base is tube steel and has a metal shelf and drawer. It's just massive. It's in may garage right now so it's mostly used as a depository of various junk I store in my garage. When I build my new shop I'll have room for it and I might add a bolt on vise.
Sorry for the thread hijack, this topic just reminded me about my bowling alley workbench. Anyway here's a pic of it:
