The issue there is that it will require an 8" pipe. That limits you in terms of buyers since so many have existing 6" liners.

I could test fine with a 6" or 8". My KS has a 7" collar, and the FV.? On 8' single wall + 8' class A mine drafts perfect, never a smoke spill.

Does anyone have experience with burning hickory. Next year I will have a ton of it ready to burn.

Hickory is primo wood. Just tough to split.

Having a stove that requires an 8" liner (like the BK and the Equinox and the bigger Buck stoves) will limit your market. If regulations require the 8" liner, you can run it with a 6" and be fine, but your insurance may not like it, or your local codes/laws/whatever may have an issue with running a 6" liner.

Seems like WS told me the KS was UL tested for 6" or 7"

Right, but what I am getting at is that after the firebox gets to a certain size, it is out of their hands for what it can be tested at. I do not have enough knowledge on this to say for certain, but I do know that there are no stoves over 3.5 cu ft with a 6" liner. Not one. It just seems to me there are requirements from manufacturers when the firebox reaches a certain size.

Hmm...didn't know there was an official cut-off size. Or maybe it just doesn't work well enough for anyone to build one.

I can't say there are official limitations or requirements, but when you look at all the stoves available, it sure seems to be more than a coincidence that anything over a 3.5 cu ft firebox requires an 8" pipe.

It's looking more and more like Woodstock is going to have their hands full keeping up with Real Steel orders...:smoke:Results are great! At that price range, I think that will fit a lot of people's budgets..

I find hickory burns differently...sort of through the wood rather than along it. Gives a lot of heat. Good firewood.

Me neither. But when I asked Tom at Woodstock about burn times, he just looked at me with a twinkle in his eye and said, "Just wait and see." I figured they knew something they were holding close to their vests, but I didn't expect anything like this.

Ok , its got my attention now ........Would like to see a few more burn cycles though , with cord wood splits.

    Excellent reporting Brian.
