So, I got some money for the "garden gun', then turned around and spent it on the 795. Decent deal, and got one stock and 2, 25 round ProMags with it. Looks almost new and was told only about 2 clips run through it. Since I had a credit from AmmoToGo, I ordered some CCI rounds. Shipping is stupid there. Maybe it's normal, but wow.
Oh man, I have got to step up my game. The chipmunks are tearing me a new one! 2 garage doors with holes chewed in, 2 holes in the siding, and holes everywhere in the yard! And who knows what kind of damage I haven't even found yet!? I have been having a lil fun with 'em though...filling their yard holes with pine cones 'Bout to go all Caddy Shack on 'em here...
I missed this thread earlier but just found it so, I really should let my wife answer this one. She used to use rat traps and used peanut butter for bait and caught a good deal of them but the big tool for her is her Ruger .22 and with that, she gets them by the dozen. Doesn't matter the size as she can hit those really little ones too. I thought she had 39 so far this year but she corrected me and says only 37. No, her rifle is not pink.
Yeah, I need to get some rat traps...and I've been shopping .22 air rifles...anybody have a suggestion for a decent one that isn't $$$?
One can sometimes pick up used .22 rifles pretty reasonable. I bought my wife a new Ruger which is a very short rifle and short stock. It is an auto and has a realatively cheap scope. Wish I could remember the cost but think it may have been in the $200 range or thereabouts. Shop around.
The .177 will do the job also ( 10 grain pellet) flatter trajectory than the .22 , I have been using my old pump up Sheridan( .20 best of both worlds trajectory and smack down) only because it is a bit quieter than the .22 cci quiet zone rounds ( note these will not cycle an auto loader)- I am not fond of break barrel air guns but all the lower priced ones are that type. Got to do a bunch of practice with those to get good as the reverse recoil and torque of the spring are a bit disconcerting at first. If you want to scope it need one that is rated for the airgun recoil _ even then that reverse recoil tends to eat them. My favorite in the spring guns with out totally destroying the wallet is the RWS 48- ( side lever design so I am not grabbing the barrel to cock it. ( 54 version is felt recoil-less) Biggest problem with the break barrels - inexpensive ones - triggers-
gotta get that on film.......chipmunks dont chew holes thru doors and siding....red squirrel and grey will.....the holes in the yard are chipmunks.
Well, I haven't actually seen them do it...but I have seen no squirrels around...but are chippys everywhere, and the damage started after they showed up, and I seen them going in/out of said chewed holes. So I say guilty until proven innocent!
My bb pistol isn't completely doing the job. I don't like just winging the little buggers. Don't want to use a .22, and seems like decent .177 pellet guns are close to $400 or more. I need a ray gun or something. That would probably introduce other complications though......like, where'd ya' get a Ray Gun, Dave?
they are store bought....first one is a 30 cal FX Bobcat made in sweden, second is 25 cal vulcan made in czech republic,i got a bunch of em......check out airgunsofarizona.com
Not wallet friendly ( from around $1200 up), and they bark fairly loudly as well. additional item needed is a Hi pressure pump (3000 psi ) $200. Dang things are as addicting as chainsaws ( new ailment ARAD - Air Rifle acquisition disease) yep ,I got infected by that a while back as well.
