    Nice morning down in the woods. Just under 60. Perfect. Ferns are looking good already. I wanted to try the new to me 545 and I had a couple small ash tops to play with so, here's proof...

    Josh's 545 is exactly how he described. Runs great with a little better "feel" than the 257. It pulled the same size chain as my old 257, effortlessly. Noticeable extra power with lighter weight. Thanks HoneyFuzz !

    My local "saw guy" wasn't sure I'd like the 3/8" chain on it. Didn't think it'd have enough power. The actual results were just the opposite... :picard: I loved it! He prolly wanted to sell me sumthin. He's a nice guy and likes to shoot the bull... obviously... ;)

    Nice saw. All that green looks good in the woods. Do you leave the tracks on year around?

    "Do you leave the tracks on year around?" ... yes, I do now. I use it down back and at the cabin, more as a tractor. All slow and close by. The only issue with tracks is steering. I tried sliding an 18" pc of pvc pipe I had in the shop, on the left handlebar, to see if the added leverage would help. It did. I'll bet it's 25% easier on my lower back with twisting. Very noticeable...

    Too much wear and tear isn't a concern? I'm sure that's a high dollar set up. Very cool though.

    These tracks are pretty tough and are designed to take abuse. This is my 6th year with them. And they don't go flat... which can be good running over alder stumps and sharp sticks/rocks. The transfer of power to the tracks results in about 1/3 less speed, but 1/3 more torque, so easier on the ATV drive. And, I don't get stuck in the snow anymore. It's my snowsled and ATV in one.

    While it wasn't a lot of wood, Josh's saw made it fun for sure... been a long time using the 257.

    Very nice Stinster! :) That's a fair amount of nice wood you got there too. Glad you like the saw too, a new toy is always good motivation to get a little more work done than normal... :whistle:

    Stinnster, what size engine is that 545? And what size bar and chain are you running on it?
    Liked the pics of the quad with the tracks still on it. Same concerns as some of the guys with wear and tear. My uncle in Nova Scotia runs them in the winter only and goes back to foam filled in the summer.
    Great pics, thanks for sharing

    I think the saw has got 545 horsepower.......... :eek::rofl: :lol: ... I don't have a clue. The bar is 18" w/3/8 chain.

    These tracks are made for all 4 seasons and are just enough of a project to swap out to tires that unless we're gonna go riding somewhere, I just leave em on. No noticeable wear on their treads yet.

    I think my 455 is close to 50cc, was wondering what a step up would be in power from mine.

    Same here, but just remember that based on Stinny's method, our 455s have 455 HP (55cc, if I remember correctly).
    No wonder it's so heavy.:rofl: :lol:

    I kinda like my 455, but I know the next one in line may be a little lighter with just a little more kick.

    Yep, like mine well enough too. Same thought on the next saw.
