Burned a lot of different kinds of pellets this season. This was the winner for the most impressive ash output, not only for this season, but I think the whole 9 seasons I've been burning a pellet stove. After a fresh stove cleaning, this accumulation is after burning ONE bag of pellets. All rows of burnpot air holes are completely blocked and even the air that comes from the auger chute / base of the burnpot is almost blocked off because the entire pot up to flame guide is nearly choked. Anyone care to guess what brand did this?
I have some Timber Heats is the basement that might come close but I have a feeling you might name a pellet that we think of as a good pellet.
I'm dealing with a similar issue. Granted, I'm burning big box pellets. But I'm starting to wonder if dialing the stove in with a manometer would help things along. I have an insert with a shallow ashpan, so the stove is sensitive to ash. It'll build up and block the airflow from the bottom of the burnpot.
It was Lignetics that did this. Not surprisingly, I had some PTL Hardwoods at the beginning of the season that did something similar (AFAIK they are the same product). The best part is, I still have nearly a full ton of the Ligs left, so that's something nice to look forward to. Maybe just a really bad batch, but needless to say - these are now on my "never again" list.
The Maine's Choice that I have aren't too bad. I would roll with those for shoulders if I had too. The "seem" to have less ash volume than the Lig's I have.
I burned a ton of Ligs last season... lot of ash but not near as much as your picture... Hamer hots make lot of ash also.. little dissapointed in them this yesr..
Me too , but the price was right , burned fine just more ash than in the past IMO more frequent cleanings needed
