I dont do as much as alot of you guys regarding splitting.I live in a semi rural area and dont own a lot of property. But my father has had a bunch of trees downed and slowly bringing a bunch by the house. With a semi bad back I'm all set with splitting by hand in the small free time I have soo

I picked one up off Amazon. Pretty cheap. But still pretty damm effective so far.

That was in about 3 or 4 mins of just tossing some logs on. Going to knock more later today[IMG][IMG]

I have a 5t Earthquake I use for smaller softer woods. Works fine for this. I can put it on my tailgate and split away! Been using it for five years now.

I have a 5 ton I got from Tractor Supply when it was a hundred bucks off.
I disappeared it under a couple of 28 inch rounds. It split them.

I'd still use it more today but bringing piles to the end of a heavy duty extension cord ( and make sure you use heavy duty with no voltage drops ) is a bit of work.

I use it mostly to split some pine in the garage on a rainy day for kindling sometimes if I get low on pine branches . I've had some splits go flying though. Pine is unruly like that.

I've been thinking on getting one to take back and forth in the truck to our camp! Good to hear you guys like the little electrics I'm going to have to get a bit more serious about the hunt for one. We don't get to spend a lot of time there anymore and the time we do I don't want to be swinging the maul for to long any way
    What's one weigh roughly?

About 100 lbs. I can load it in the back of my car (one end at a time) without help. I CAN lift the whole thing, but don't.
