I built my dream shop starting in about 2011. 30x60x14, three 12x12 doors, floor heat tubing, all insulated, metal ceiling, osb interior walls, NC30!
I'm in Albany, NH. That's SW of Conway, NH, just off the Kancamagus Hwy. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Hi I just bought some pegboard already painted white. My shop is very small so with shelves all over the walls, the only place for the pegboard was on each side of the workbench.
Will you stay with something like an NC30 or go for the gold with a BK Princess? Blaze King Industries With the princess you get 40k BTUs and the King you can get 50k BTUs But I would take a used Harman P61 with hopper extension for a whopping 61k BTUs any day!
After using the nc30 in my shop for a few years I gladly admit that something more automated like the p61 would be nice. Just because it takes so long to heat a cold shop and you have to be "there" while doing it with a noncat.
Any pellet stove that can work on a T-Stat P61a included can work on the Lowe's Iris WiFi T-Stat so you can warm up the shop before you get there with your iPhone. - and no monthly fee with Iris.
As you might imagine, I never see used Harman P stoves on CL. I priced out a real pellet furnace at around 4000$ which is probably more ideal. Our softwood doug fir pellets are super cheap in this part of the country due to the massive lumber mills. Like 225$ per ton.
Wow They are $375 a ton around here minimum!! There always are used Harmans in this are! One of the family members lives in Worcester MA and is allowed so many a year!!! Although you may have plenty of used Whitfields in your area, that is where Dr. Whitfield had his production plant.
BTW, I really like your workshop HB Is there a reason for the high ceilings and large overhead doors?
The height is for RVs and my previous tractor was really tall. I am a travel trailer guy. Ceiling height is also very nice when swinging around long pieces of lumber like baseboard trim. Pole barn construction so height is not as expensive as square footage. 14' interior ceiling isn't really that tall. I wish I had gone a bit taller with taller doors to allow 5th wheel or motorhome storage. 12' is too low for those.
I looked again using one of those CL search engines and found a local refurbisher that offers to buy any Harman and then resells with paint for mid 2k$ range. What this means is that I might have a harder time finding a used ugly Harman p68/61a cheap to refurbish.
Here's my current shop - 20' x20' in my basement. Full dust collection. Chainsaw station: My lumber storage building (formerly 4 car garage) I'm planning to build a 30' x 40' (at least) pole barn next year.
