    Hello
I celebrated finishing the wiring of the workshop by replacing the folding table with a solid OAK workbench! I had my eye on the Harbor Freight bench mainly because it had 4 draws and a storage shelf underneath. This compared to others on the Internet for $159.95 seemed like a good deal. When it went on sale last weekend my son and I drove over Sunday in the snowstorm just before they closed and picked it up for $127.95 with the 20% coupon which was even cheaper than the $129.95 sale price! When we got it home and took all the pices out I was amazed at how well built it is! The store associate said some people by two and put them back to back for a super strong island in the kitchen! Then if the need arises they can open up the side wood clamp and cut a pipe or piece of wood quick to fix the sink or whatever! LOL
I also ordered a 1/4" piece of Lexan to protect the top. :)
So it went together very well but it is higher than the table. So I am wondering what would be a good chair for it? (Bar Stool...etc.)

I love my bench from TSC! Even though I am somewhat challenged when it comes to putting things together, I had no issues and had it together in something like 2.5-3 hours. I got it on sale for $129 and free shipping so I just had to drag it into the house from in front of the garage. It is nice and heavy duty too.

I just stand at mine. However, I am usually working with my sliding miter saw on it, so sitting wouldn't even come into the equation. I also stand if doing other things, but I sit so much at work I enjoy being upright. Plus I have some of the foam, interlocking square tiles in front of it, so my feet are comfortable. I can see a plane, no-back, bar stool being useful but you wouldn't want one that is too tall.

    Hi
Glad you like yours, is it metal or wood?
Mine really fits my needs, I just got a power strip for the right leg.
I do need to sit and some chairs have adjustable height so I need to look around.

Yes, with drawers. I have a power strip on the table to the right of the bench. I have the shelves from an old defunct book case under the saw as the bench isn't quite wide enough for the saw base - plus they protect the top of the bench.

Personally I would go with a stool without a back to it. But that is because I am constantly on the move so the back just gets in the way. However, I can see the advantage of having a swivel seat too. Be careful with the height as the bench is only 34" high and some of those stools pictured are 28-33". That may cause you to be constantly stooped over which can be very uncomfortable.

    Hello
I just got a nice adjustable height shop chair on sale at staples but it was still too heigh. :-(
So I went behind the shed and got an old 6x6 PT Plank and cut it in half with my mitre saw and put the 2 pieces under each leg. Now it is perfect height and more storage room under the table. :)

99 lbs got this one year for me and I have enjoyed it much. Previous was a wooden barstool with no padding or back...

[IMG] I'm sure to keep the cost down, get one without a name across it!

I like that too - What is the min. Height?
My min is 46.6 and max height is 52.4 inches.
So by elevating the table 5.75 inches, that compares to a chair 40.85 to 46.65 inches according to the specs of this chair on the web but wait a min! Hold the phone! I just measured the min height with a tape measure and look at this!!!
It is 28 inches To the seat!!
So the effective seat range with the table up 5.75"
    Is 22.25" to 27.25"
So that can get me the height of the old workbench stool of 24" from floor to the seat like this one.
    Shop Stool - Metal H-1917 - Uline
Since the standard chair seat is about 18" from the floor, it is too low for a workbench and the standard more comfortable drafting chair like I bought is 28" to 33" then 24" is about the right height.
Because I have 4 draws 2 an 2 then the effective 22.25" works well for me!!! That is my final analogy!

Their measurements on the staples drafting chair I purchased at staples in their spec are to the top of the back of the chair!!!

So please tell me your measurements from the floor to the chair seat???
Do you think it is too high compared to the old stool??

Pic 1 - Min Height = 28 inches floor to chair seat
Pic 2 - Max Height = 33 inches floor to chair seat

Yes - same height adjustment range as the chair I purchased since I had to measure my chair because my specs went by the top not chair seat!!
So by raising the table up 6 inches either chair would work fine! Thanks
Is the height of your chair good for you?

See pic below of my chair same height
$124.79 with arms and 94.79 with no arms from staples Presidents' Day sale. :)

I recently bought this one from Northern Tool. I had a coupon and belong to their Hotline group that has discounts and free shipping. I ended up paying just under $5.00 (that is right) for it. I had to assemble it, but that wasn't too bad. Sits high.

I have to pay about 30 each year for the Hotline membership. With that, I get coupons, catalogs, and online offers. If it is something I think I want, I don't hesitate much getting it with those deals. It is a good place to do business with. They stand by what they sell.

We have about 50 or so of these at work. They hold up fine, if you don't abuse them. Even with abuse, they do pretty well.

Looks study enough. Sits a bit high for me, but OK. Note, the back comes off easily for those who don't like back support. Not really much support. More to remind you where to sit properly so you won't be tipping over.
