I don't have anything to do with the fair, I just like to support it, and what it stands for. It's coming up next week (Oct.2) through the week. Here are some pics from last year, plenty of camp sites for rv's or a day trip if your near. Fryeburg Fair > Fair Info Monday is "woodsman" day, skidder races, log truck load/unload contest and saw races.
Me, Katie and the Kids are headed to the Lenard Wood's demonstration this week. That is always cool as well since they fire up their steam Lombard Log Hauler, give talks on life in a 1790's lumber camp and let their old up and down sawmill make boards (though probably not this year due to the drought). Of course who can refuse bean hole beans. Mighty nasty ride home once you get the "winds", but tastes and smells much better going down the gullet!
That splitter is a thing of beauty & simplicity, so are those old gas engines. 2 of my neighbors each have one (pictured). I have thought about making a larger one with enough stroke to work on my 26" wood that I feed my wood boiler with. It's all in the flywheel.
Oh you bet, but just like any fair, keep the pepto or tums real close I'm headin over there in the AM. Hope the rain holds off. Were about 9" short on rain here, figgure's it would rain "fair week".
This is all I have to show for the fair this year. Like a dummy, I left my camera at home and don't have a smart phone. Mrs fuelrod stayed at home freeing me up to not worry about boring her lingering at the logging events and "machinery row" with all the shiney new splitters, band mills, trucks, atv's, tractors, snowplows, tractors, atv's, tractors, atv's, and of course the tractors & atv's
