Came across a nice size section of hackberry at the tree dump. Just wondering if it's a nice looking wood once milled?

Great info and site. Sounds like it might not be the best wood for me to experiment with.

Best to mill it in colder winter months when sap is down, otherwise that nice offwhite color is very susceptible to sap stain, bluing & mould in warm months when sap is flowing.

Turns nice, though be careful with irregular grain, that can tear out sometimes even with sharp gouges/bowl scrapers.
