    Hey hey hey.

Getting the new puter wall mount hacked out.

    Here are some pix.

Just need to take it back down and paint the wood piece.

Luckily I have a quart of the dark blue paint on the shelf.

One piccy of the back of the puter case shows the VESA mounting holes (Video electronics standards association)
The cool little articulated mount was a $30 score off ebay with free shipping.

Not super Heavy duty, but is rated for 100 pounds.

The computer will likely tip the scales at near 5o # when fully dressed, so plenty of safety factor.

Don't want the beast on the floor. :hair:

Mounted to one stud that has an electrical box along side.

Checked with stud finder, and no elect indications

Drilled holes for the lags, AND HELD BREATH

No bzzzzzzzt and loss of power

Gonna rip it down and go paint the sucker

Got a sprinkle tonight. Not nearly enough to do anything. Still watering once or twice a day. Paying off, the cucumbers are delicious. I've been eating fresh green beans every day and don't mind them at all. Very tasty. Getting cherry tomatoes. the big boys aren't anywhere near ready. Greens and summer squash are also doing well.

Raining pretty good here this AM. Much needed too.

Upgraded 2 PC's to window10 and 1 to go tonight. I won't run it myself. But will have a back up drive with it just because its free. Gonna run Win7 until I'm forced to............ I got to go look at other options. Got a few other spare drives I can muck around with other OS's........ Thanks to Snowy and Bear I see some that look promising to rid myself of anything gates!! :D They are also free, Which is fine by me!!

Go online and have a look at Zorin OS

If you like Win 7 you will love Zorin

I run the OS 9 LTS (Long term support)

You can get the "Core" free

I dropped the $23 I think it was for the Key to the ULTIMATE.

    https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwig0Jyc7JjOAhVL4mMKHZ0HBx4QFggcMAA&url=http://zorinos.com/&usg=AFQjCNFuqxT1kOF_CqbYCkczZkuyBCu8xw&sig2=QHKsbUJaLt3RCDufmpTOOg&bvm=bv.128617741,d.cGc

This link should get you there.

You can do a dual install and keep your present OS.

Common stuff like text files, office stuff, piccy's and much more all work fine in the big Z

Save all your "Chit" to a Whizzzzz drive and then once the new OS is in and going you can drop the files in appropriate places.

Email is handled nicely with Thunderbird mail client (Easy few steps to type in your existing mail addy and get it working.

Browsers available in 32 bit are Firefox and Opera and Midori

The 64 bit version also has Chrome.

THE WIDDLE FOX seems to work fine in my 32 bit version.

    Have fun

You can get live dvd copies of most linux distros I've played with a good number. Play with a few first.

One more day (today) of 90 + F and then cooler (much) weather

Maybe a bit of showers next week. Key word "maybe"

Summer has not been at all too bad so far.

A few hot days and then cooler cloudier weather for several days.

Had to clean the AC evaporator the other day.

Thing was clogged with dust and crud.

    Nasty job.

I installed the system back in spring 1994 and it is still churning along.

Need to replace the evaporator as the drain pan has rotted out in a few places and created a leak issue.

Fixed it (5 years ago temporarily) with a large plastic funnel that catches the drip and runs it down the drain line.

Bought the new Evap core last year but want some help getting it in the furnace.

Young fella here locally is a top flight HVAC tech is gonna help.

Need 2 good hands to get this down, at least in any record time.

I don't want to rip it apart when it is hot.

The Zorin can be run as a "live version" although slow you can look it over and explore it.

    Great way to go

I am surprised that more folks don't ditch Blows and try other OS's

    Too much cool aid maybe

I also downloaded win.10 on two other laptops. I like it a lot more than 8.1, it really is more like seven but with more options. The cortana thing is really neat. But then I also have Amazon's ECHO. So much easier to ask the computer for a tel. no etc. then to look it up from a menu

    OK TROOPS

Having me new build all over the dining room table was a tad tacky (As if I give a rip)
Decided a test ride on board the new bracket was in order, plus get the table cleaned off.

Still a lot of stuff to go into the thing yet.
    Video card
    WIFI card
    The proper power supply
    HDD
Proper SATA Hot swap carriers (Old IDE in there for fitting up)

Still thinking about what VidEO card to stuff in it.

I don't need one thats 18 inches long with 16 ports on it either.

Likely a middle of the road with a gig or 2 of on board ram and 3 output options (VGA, DVI, HDMI) ????

The power supply in there now is not even gonna cut it.

I want to get the machine roughed in and the OS loaded, things sorted out and fully operational.

Then yank the unit off the wall and tuck all the wiring into the back panel area and then connect and wring out the water cooling stuff.

I can get by fine without the water cooler, as it is just for the "Look cool" factor anyway.

Not real happy with the slant the thing is on, but the mount is for a TV anyway.

I may end up machining some aluminum bars to replace the VESA brackets that fasten the the unit.]

This will allow the puter to hang level.

Pretty easy using some 1/2 x 2 x 2 aluminum angle and with a few minutes in the mill the issue will be taken care of.

But we shall see how things work.

My only concern is the DVD drives, but the slight angle may not be an issue at all.

    Could be

Most all files from MS office work fine in the Libre office suite in Zorin.

I used to have WORD 97 in blows and all those files work fine.

    Spread sheets
Document writer stuff, and the list goes on.

Libre office pretty well has anything one could want.

Plus there is a plethora of other office type software in the software center in Zorin that can be installed (Part of the Ultimate version)

Pretty much can let the "Win Blow" any more.

With so many lovely Distros out there.

I vote this - only because I don't like running components in a box that isn't horizontal or vertical, especially fans: proper cooling (venting) is always a concern here.

With the P5 case it is wide open on top, bottom and both sides to airflow is no worries .

Just that sheet of plexi on the front is all

I just don't care for the slant look is mostly it.
