First thing I thought of too. Let's see a hot or not rating or maybe an indicator showing whether they are a buy again or not?

well, the pennington i mighta not gave a fair shake, but regardless they are long and did make large clinkers.
dry creek is the big seller around here and thats what i started with....a ton its blah....consistently,lots of fines, dirty on a low setting, they burn and are consistant,no problems, just blah....burned over half ton of them.
all the rest ran great, oakies, chow, and infernos,i will be looking for again

yeah,i shoulda bought a pellet stove years ago,but it worked out good,i was puttin an addition on the house last couple years so it worked out perfect, went from 1350 to 2700sqft.
blaze king wood stove in basement would have no trouble keeping up with heat needs @2700sqft,(like72-74°)but it is really nice to have the mt vernon E-2 upstairs on a T-stat......on the other hand the pellet stove im SURE would heat the whole house by itself if it was in the celler......but us old firewood guys cant let go.....:):)

Heartlands, no complaints. We went from 100% wood heat to 90% pellets since we added the pellet stove.

13 posts before beer (or vodka or other smoothie) was mentioned. I wonder what the quickest was (other than threads made specifically to talk about smoothies).

    • ThermoGlo's - meh but the P61 burned them okay just little heat and loads of ash
    • Pres-To-Logs - P43 loved them, some ash and very little window fogging with good heat.
    • FSU's - P43 loved them (some ash, no soot, good heat), P61 loved them but dark soot covered glass, so kind of a pain (Hastings did same last year)
    • Platinums - P61 liked them and they were great for mixing with the ThermaGlo's. Some ash although window did soot up fairly quickly, ran good heat when I ran it exclusive.
    • Vermont Wood Pellets (2 bags left from last year) - GREAT - high heat, no ash (price was prohibitive though)
    • TSC bagged MWP's (5 bags) - meh, yeah, they burn
    • Inferno's (6 bags) - both stoves liked them a lot with low ash and pretty good heat
    • Okie Golds - Both stoves really liked them with good heat, low ash and little window fogging - great value at what I paid - wouldn't pay $300 for them though.
    • Cubex (15 bags) - P43 & P61 LOVED these - high heat, low ash, very little window fogging. I got a good price - but most prices I see are way too high for me.
    • Hamers (4 bags) - P43 LOVED these - high heat, little ash and some window fogging. I got them on trade so have no idea on price.
    • Blackstone (4 bags on trade) - P61 liked them about like the Platinums.
    • DF's (2 bags given to me to try) - P61 really liked these, but to me the weren't "all that"
The two worst pellets were the ThermoGlo's and TSC bagged MWP's. Didn't help that I bought them at the beginning of the season ($259/ton for the TG's and $4/bag for the MWP's). The only way I would buy either again is if they were $100/ton. I got the PTL's at beginning of the season for $259/ton also and was quite happy with them - so that will give you a reference point.

Any of the rest of the pellets I would buy again - but I also balance price against performance since I have more stove power than I really need in this house - I don't need the greatest performance to keep warm and snug - so there is no way I'm paying $300+/ton. With the Harman's even with the highest ash pellets I could go 2 weeks between cleaning (lower ash can go 4 weeks), so if you have a small ash pan, you may be happy to pay much higher prices than I am willing to go for low ash generation.

I cannot remember what I burned this year, but here I go

    Vermont
    MWP ( via Tractor Supply)
    FSU
    Still River
    Greene Supreme
    Pennington
    Maine's Choice
    Timber Heats
    Nature's Own
    Orford
    Blazers

I feel like there is more but I cannot think of them at the moment. All these pellets were pretty good. My biggest complaint this year actually comes from the Blazers. I got a fair amount of clinkers from them.

I burned or at least tried everything in my sig with the exception of the CE's, I believe. I have no problem with any of them although the Lig/PTL hardwood's have a bit more ash volume than others.

I burned everything on your list , except the Crete's and the PTL softies , they are in my stash just never got to burn them as they are buried at the bottom , plus a few others . They all burned fine only issue I had with the Barefoot's was ash cakes in the pot.

    Timber Heats
    Energex
    Barefoot
    Henry County
    Country Boy White Lighting
