The desert in Egypt was very hot though! Was awesome going inside the great pyramid, seeing and touching the Sphinx and seeing the artifacts at the Egyptian museum in Cairo!
Wow! I never got the chance to go any further then the med… We did go north up to iceland and chase subs up there, "frigate" ASW ship… other than that, not much fun…. Was in that "stupid line of death thing"
Do you remember the Carousel bar there in Palma, and the long concrete pier? Oh boy was that a long walk when your ahhhhh well you know...
My dad was on the Joseph P. Kennedy during the Korean conflict but saw no action. We were both on Kennedy ships.. Odd coincidence eh? Dad still loves talking about his navy days and he is 84 now.. Printed out pics of our ships and they hang on the wall in his assisted living apartment..
USAF 69 to 73. Went in at 18 had a top secret security clearance by 19 got out when I was 22. I did communication work. Had a TDY to Nakhon Phanom or as we called it NKP in 72. It was all interesting and exciting at the time and was able to see some pretty cool stuff.

Did you ever serve with the 112 th out of Bangor? Have a few good friends that were there in your times.
No, we did have some of the 1125th, part of 95 evac. That was in bagor. We met at the center on union st. I thick that is torn down now. The 1125th is no longer. I was the CPR instructor trainer.
A lot of the old base has been torn down but they just finished a new readiness center. The flight facility is a fairly new building and the ground transportation units are still going. AFRC is being added onto right now but that holds both Army and Navy. They built a new RTI building by AFRC 4 years ago. My neighbor was a medic from the early 70s to the mid 90s. Regular army and then in the ANG out of Bangor.
