003.JPG 007.JPG I got these this weekend at a garage sale. Sanded and oiled the handles and they are good as new. I'd never seen a brush axe before yesterday. View attachment 64705

Those hooked brush axes work very well. Keep em sharp and they really take out the smaller stuff with ease.

I had a brush cutter, used the blade to make a slitter for burying cable.

Those brush axes are the bomb. Many years ago Dad & I picked up a couple at 2 different farm/estate auctions. One was hand forged/reshaped from something else, the other was factory made with no maker's name on it.

Both make quick work of lopping off small green limbs/branches from fallen trees.I've found they work best on stuff no bigger than 1.5" diameter or so,dead wood is not so easy/fast compared to green so I either use a heavy 5lb felling axe or (most of the time) the wee Echo top handle for that instead.

Both axes are in real good condition but I have some work to do on those edges.... The brush axe is a Collins and the Pulaski axe is a True Temper........ I looked them up on eBay:bug: there are some crazy prices! Just looking, I'll put them to good use.

I know the Collins is a good name, I'm not familiar with the quality of the True Temper.

I'd been wanting a small axe for awhile and after researching several it came down to Gransfor Bruks or the Husqvarna, I decided that the Husqvarna small forest axe was the one. Both axes are hand forged in Sweden...... then 002.JPG it came down to $$, the Husqvarna was half the price of Gransfor. I'm very happy with the quality! it's a very nice axe or ax.
