As if we didn't have enough to be concerned about with imported contaminated pet food, now we have a new infection. Dog flu. Suspected to be an avian flu from China/Thailand. Much like human flu, but no cross over to humans yet. Cats not so lucky. Now active in 12 states. I would caution everyone from allowing their dogs to socialize with others at common gathering areas such as dog parks, groomers, campgrounds etc.
that pool makes that look like a the small pool makes her look big ( just killed some time and went through the first ten pages of this pet picture section and i feel great its good to smile for a change )
yes, this is a very nice place to check in on frequently. Most everyone here has pets, or is very fond of them. I have two labs and six Himalayan cats. They get along very well. Both breeds are very calm.
It is interesting how pyrs play together. A lot of folks at the dog park expressed concern Sven & Ollie were trying to kill each other. That's just how they play. And they will only play that way with another pyr. Nobody gets hurt but it sure looks pretty rowdy. Ollie had worms pretty bad when we brought her home, also a farm dog. A vet trip took care of that. At first Sven wouldn't even let her stand next to him. Now they are pretty much inseparable.
Ya it was always a brawl here when Murphy was alive and it got what looked like very violent. Nothing bad ever happened though! Sounds like your 2 are great buddies dan.
no pics just a great story, have a day http://www.wcvb.com/news/man-takes-...ampaign=WCVB Channel 5 Boston&linkId=14559555
Our 2 huskies we had while living at the farm used to get into it pretty "scary wild" too sometimes. Also a male & female. (edit... I'm losing my mind... 2 females... )My honey chucked a bag of groceries at em once to get em to stop... Then, they laid down and rested right beside each other.
I think the story went like she walked in with a bag of groceries, and the huskies blew up right at her feet... she was scared to death and tossed the closest object...
Uh oh. I called a semi local dog breeder that has a litter of yellow labs to be born this summer. She called back and we talked this morning. I got all the warm fuzzies and she said we'd be a good home for one of her pups. We may be back to 3 dogs again this summer. It all depends on litter size though as we want a male.
It sounds crazy, but go for two at a time, you are already doing all the work of training one, they keep each other company, there is always a playmate, they will have a best friend for life (besides you). When I added the two hound brothers last summer there was never an issue with whining in their crate at night or when we were away. They are inseparable now. I hadn't planned on two, I had one picked out by the pictures. My younger daughter went with me to pick him up. When we got there I couldn't decide between the one I had picked out and another one. The guys wife was standing there and says, "why don't you take both" it was a litter of 12. The whole way home my daughter kept saying over and over, "you're crazy, I can't believe you got two, bad decision, worst decision you've ever made, blah blah blah" Turned out to be a great decision, I remind my daughter of that and tease her by saying, " I sure am glad you went with me and suggested we get two."
