Since the order did not go through; I can ask questions. What is the width of the door for the NC30? 11 inches seems small for a stove that large.

I am looking at the Wood Pro 2.6 stove on Mernards. http://www.menards.com/main/p-2431450-c-6884.htm

The stove is a bit smaller than the NC30 with a firebox size 2.6 cu. ft.

The stove is lighter at 325 pounds compared to the NC30 423 lb; does that mean the steel is a bit thinner?

    • EPA certified, 72% efficient
    • Heats up to 2,500 sq. ft. of living space
    • Burns up to 12 hours on a single load of wood
    • Includes 100 CFM blower for better heat circulation
    • Easy-to-use ash removal drawer
    • 2.6 cu. ft. firebox
    • 21" max log length
    • Approved for mobile homes with optional fresh air intake
    • Certified and available for sale in all 50 states, including Washington, Oregon and California
    • EPA approved
    • C02 neutral and environmentally responsible

    Dimensions: 27" W x 30" D x 30" H
    Shipping Dimensions: 30.0 x 30.0 x 27.0
    Shipping Weight: 325.0 lbs

Mernards charges $202.85 to ship it but there is no sales tax; price over the NC30 at HD would be $37.15

They also have the 2.0: http://www.menards.com/main/p-2431449-c-6884.htm

Do stove manufactures used the words length, width, depth, and height in a standard way? I am certain that height is the distance from the floor but the others seem to be randomly applied. I know how they are applied in maths.

I really don't know what to do; I have a friend telling me that the NC30 is going to be too big and take up too much room and put out too much heat. Smaller stoves are much higher in cost and have tiny fireboxes and people are telling me that is not the way to go. Spend more money for less or less money for more; :headbang:

kimberly, I have an nc-13, I work from home I need to fill it every 3 hours or its a cold start. the store says it will heat 1800 square feet NO WAY. the size difference of hearth between 13 and 30 is not worth the hassle get a stove that let's you sleep! I think Englander is a good product for the price but this stove will go to garage where it can warm it while working on something. and do not use ash pan far easier and safer to shovel out. seriously I am headed to Tennessee later in year build your hearth big enough for a 30 I will bring 13 down and you can have it. I got another little one in garage I could use or I will you that one.

Maybe having my credit card declined was a good thing. I am not really happy with the width of the NC 30, it is a narrow stove and deep. I would like to have a stove that was not as deep and wider; however, the woodpro stoves seem cheaper constructed to me. I don't like the door on the US Stoves.

Maybe I should look some more; not worry about a 10 to 12 hour burn.

You control how much heat the stove puts out. If you put the same amount of wood in it as a small stove holds, you will get the same amount of heat out of it.
What's the difference in the foot print size? An additional 4" each direction?
I doubt you need a 3.5 cuft stove but the price is right, you don't have to load it to the gills and you wont find yourself needing or wanting more stove.

Really! That would be great. Where in Tennessee would this be? I have a friend with a truck that told me he would drive me to pick it up if not too far.

Kimberly, the 30's door opening is 15" wide and 11" high.
Man, this is why I love this place. Canadian border VT just made a very generous offer that I wouldn't hesitate to pounce on.
That stove would help offset your electric use, and allow you to get your flue put in......win, win, win, win.
Just be sure to get started on the wood supply like,........yesterday. Seriously. Even if all you can get your hands on is some lesser wood, do it.
VERY important. Get it split and stacked either in a windy spot, or better a sunny AND windy spot. Or, do an Uncle Augie solar kiln thing, which is basically clear plastic wrapped over your wood stacks for the summer.
