    Hi Everyone,
I haven't used a woodstove since the late 70's...back then I had a Tempwood. I really liked that stove, it heated my little Ranch house from the basement very well.

In the mid 80's I built a Raised Ranch, and still live in it today.
I think it was the late 80's when I bought my used ASW Huntsman 241...I just got around to installing the stove a couple of weeks ago.
We have Electric heat, it wasn't bad the first few years....then we used a kerosene heater in the downstairs foyer to supplement the Elec heat...Then just used the Kero heater for the last ten years or so. I haven't turned a thermostat on in over ten years.
I figured it was time to install the wood stove. I got my building permit, had it inspected, called the insurance company and added stove to the policy...then fired up the stove. The Huntsman has been doing a good job at keeping the house warm. I expect it will do very well in the coming months.

Like riding a bicycle , never forget how

Bet you save big $$ using wood over /electric.
Even if the electric kicks in now & then, still big savings.

Dry wood is key , how much you have for the season ?

I have about 5 cords, it was cut 2-3 years ago...I split most of it this year.
I also have about 6-7 cords I cut this year...I will split that in the spring.
With Electric heat, every room has a thermostat...They have all been set to off for a decade. So my savings will be not purchasing Kerosene any more. WS4.jpg I'll try to post some pics. WS5.jpg

The manual states it'll hold up to 24 inches long.
Most of my wood had been cut to 18-20 inches.

Welcome to FHC HammerheadC4 . Nice setup on your hearth, and a good looking stove on it. Now that your saving money not buying kero anymore you will have a little more peace of mind in the wallet.

Don't forget about me and Razo. I agree with you I really like my old all nighter. The newer stoves sound a lot more temperamental to me. Got a wife so there's enough of that here. :D Just don't tell her that. I'd hate to have 2 black eyes at Christmas time.

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone.

WeldrDave......I live in the North East corner of CT.....I did spend a couple months in NJ, at Ft Dix. for boot camp, then years later I returned there and graduated as a DI.
