Funny I was talking to my brother about stuff like that. He tore down an old barn this summer.

I guess someone was using boards to make coasters and hawking to the citidiots for $6 ea... Bwgagaha!

Those look nice Snafu2. My brother has made a couple of tables out of nice pieces of wood he has liked. Branches for the legs/supports. Always nice to have something unique.

Hey Snafu2. What did you seal those stumps with? Did you let them dry/keep them inside before you sealed them?

    Thanks guys
Gasifier I let them dry for about 2 years (first year and a half was out side I wasn't sure what to do with them ) then I cut them to size and got them inside sanded them and then waited them months later after I measured the cracks with a MIC then when I was sure they were done cracking I sanded again
    Then I stained them
And then used a oil based poly on the sides then waited for that to fully dry
Then I used parks epoxy resin to put a bar top finish on them took a bunch of coats to finish them
The next one I am working on is 55 in across
All the stuff in the pics is made from white spruce

What type of clear coat are you putting on that furniture? I have a bar top slab of poplar and I'm not sure what to use. Your stuff looks great, and I like that finish!

I used parks super glaze up here it's 25bucks a quart but it's worth it

I found some stuff called FAMOWOOD Glaze Coat
I need to buy some and compare it to parks
It's the same price per quart but it also comes in 1 gal boxes too and for 1 gal it's 73 bucks it's like getting a quart for free

The parks works best with a room temp above 80 F

We have several coffee/end tables for sale at the shop, I think $125 each.

    WOW!!! Those are absolutely AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, how many coats does it take to get the nice clear coat? I used to make Surfboards, and it only took one coat of what we called a "Hot-coat" to finish them off. It was "hot" because we mixed the resin very hot (a lot of hardener), and the hotcoat resin was a special very clear resin that cost 3 times as much as our regular resin.

I've been looking for something to finish wood in also. Got to check the product you mentioned out....
