How I stack my Wood

Here is a picture of how I stack my wood. It is on a pallet wrapped with net wrap. The net wrap helps keep leaves out of it. I can move it with the tractor.

 

Interesting system. Where do you get the netting?

It is what they use on hay bales. I get it from my neighbor. When he gets close to the end of a roll he puts a new one on so he doesn't run out in the middle of the field. Since it is free it works good for me. If you had to buy it I'm not sure if it would be worthwhile. A new roll would be pretty heavy to wrap the wood with. I've been stacking my wood on pallets for a little over 2 years. I had problems with the pallets getting packed full of leaves. I started using the net wrap within the past year. My stove is in the basement and I have a garage door in the basement. I can pull up with a couple of pallets and take the wood in the basement. I'm afraid to sit a pallet in the basement because I don't know what kind of critters may be in it. Stacking the wood on pallets eliminates handling the wood a time for me. Also if the wood is in the way it is easy to move.

I guess if you had a big long stack of wood you could still wrap it with netwrap to keep leaves out.

Here is a picture before I started using the netwrap.

It is the most efficient way for me to stack and handle my firewood.

 

Now you got everyone drooling over your tractor. I like the moving on pallets idea. Quite a few people here do that.

 

It looks like it was just washed and waxed. Sweet piece of equipment!

Thanks. Yes stacking on pallets does help speed up the seasoning process. I used to move them with the little tractor but it was probably hard on it. I made my 3 point hitch forks quick hitch compatible and added a quick hitch to the little tractor. It moved the forks back about 6'' and now somebody has to ride on the weights to keep the front down. I've been stacking the pallets a little taller since I plan on using the big tractor.

It is a big time saver.

Nice system ya have bullit! That net will help keep the wood tight while it shrinks. What series is the tractor? We've got a 6040 at work and it get's the job done for sure. Not to mention kubota has one of the most comfortable cabs on the market i think.

Here's what I built, I like yours because it's lighter.

That's pretty neat. But, if I stacked wood this way I'd go through a TON of pallets. That stack looks to be 3'-4' high. 20-25 cords of wood would take up a lot more space.
