Believe me, I have had thoughts about lighting off the kicker stove in the basement since the OWB is standing idle yet. But, I'm holding out for the really cold stuff that we all know is coming!

I hauled up some ash/oak form the cottage into the garage staging area for it yesterday....stuff is 7 years old! (Moisture meter? i think not!)

Not really cold out but it was 52°, raining and windy last night . Thought I'd try to see how well i could keep the house warm (69°) without overheating.
Started with a small kindling fire then 2 nice sized splits, cut the air back till i had a nice fire burning and the hot spot up to 400°, then shut the air down to 15% .
Stove went black and 12 hours later the house (main level) was still 69°.

Just finished the 1st cup. Ahhh. Goin' for round 2. :coffee:
Slight drizzle outside, and a bit chilly so there may be fire soon. :fire:
I need to use up some firewood. I'm 3-4 weeks behind schedule.

We just needed a quick morning warm up. It just takes too long for the wood stove to heat up.

Don't mean to ruin your morning, but I think you missed a spot...or two when you were shaving your legs this morning. :)

did the same thing at 5:30 this AM.
43ºF was the forecast low and it got to 37ºF
It was a little chilly in here at 60ºF
It's been so nice I'm just not in Winter mode yet.
