I get something from CreditKarma every month so I check my score and see what has changed. Thing is, I just came off the Equifax monthly check (and inquiries if they got a credit check request) because of a breach a couple of years ago someplace else (they paid for the Equifax protection). With all the times I check my account, probably not a huge deal for me. But if you rarely/never check, I'd sign up. also, read the fine print - are they claiming if you don't sign up that they are no longer responsible? Since I hadn't heard about how to sign up for protection, I really haven't looked into it. I'll have to see what the T&C's are for signing up versus not signing up.
Looks like you can go to their site and see if your data was affected. I would start with that. Site I got info from
I checked, and the website said they believed my data was impacted. I clicked on the "Enroll" link and they gave me an enroll date of 9/12/17 (on or after). I don't see a down side to signing up, so will do so Tuesday.
Yes, I did go there, both my ss# and WWW's SS# came up as "could have been potentially impacted" or similar words.
Im guessing they are going to tell everyone that checks, that they are in the impacted group. Just a hunch
Maybe, but if that is the case wouldn't it be simpler to just give everybody the free credit monitoring service and be done with it?
heard on news if you agree. . on their website you give up right to sue them our atty general is on it...
That is correct I heard that on the Nightly Business Report on PBS and the SOB's that head the company new about this a while back then dumped a bunch of their stock to line their pockets , then they announced the breach and of coarse the stock drops . This really stinks .
Personally I'm not going to worry ,I'm going to watch my bank and credit union daily along with my credit cards . If some azz hole opens up new accounts in my name and try's to stick me with the bill F 'U go see Equifax
