After a lot of thinking on what splitter I wanted to get I decided to get a Split Second. Jake at Split Second responded to my emails quickly and I talked to him on the phone one day and he knew his product. When we (my Dad is half owner) ordered it my Dad talked to Linda and he said she was also very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the splitter. Linda even returned his called today on her way home from work on her cell phone and she said don't hesitate to call her if we have any questions. The other splitter I was considering was a Super Split HD. I chose the Split Second over it because of the retractable tongue, the telescopic jack, lower engine placement for lower center of gravity, wider stance and adjustable height. I got the Split Second splitter bundle which includes the splitter, log lifter, tool tray, and cover. https://splitsecondlogsplitter.com/Products/Product-Details/ProductID/14Then I also got the the log dolly. They are currently doing free shipping. The splitter was "boxed" well. The splitter was pretty much assembled when it was delivered. The tongue had to be installed (2 pins) and bolt the table on. The engine had to be filled with oil. I also installed an hour meter before it was ever started. I need to get some holders for the wire on my hour meter yet. The engine started on the first pull. The Subaru is a great running engine. The splitter has really impressed me. So far it has split everything on the first hit. It is ridiculously fast. The table is nice and big to leave splits on there that need resplit. I have not used it with the log lifter yet, I just put it on but it should make things more productive. I plan on using it as a staging table. If anybody has any questions or if there is anything you would like know about the splitter or any thing you would like to see a picture of let me know. It came on 2 pallets. Doing some splitting After 2.4 hours
I was wondering why you chose the Split Second over Super Split but you spelled it out. Any plans to defeat the 2 handed operation? I thought Subaru was out of the small engine business?
I've found with mine the limiting factor is how fast you can load the wood onto the table. I like the 2 hand operation as a safety measure since it only takes a fraction of a second to really injure yourself.
The Ariens 22 Ton I bought earlier this year has a Subaru engine. Come to think of it Ariens uses Subaru on some of their lawnmowers.
They are. No new development, they were pretty much running out the product they have left and that's all folks. What a shame. They are indeed great engines. I own 2.
It is kinetic. See How It Works Yes, I'll make a video of the log lift sometime. It has a long handle you use to raise it. I can remove 3 pins on the log lift comes off. Their log lift also fit super split. It may fit a woods, depending on how you table is made.Split Second Log Lift I wish I could load it as fast as it cycles. That stinks. I'd like to eventually get a conveyor/ convert a hay elevator. I was thinking about a Subaru on it. Yes. I first heard about Split Second on here. Not currently. I don't see where it is slowing me down.
That thing likes to split some wood. I noticed in this vid and the other a couple of time it kicked the log up, what causes that?
