I need one. Maybe 2. Trying to prepare my self.. I picked up an 8 cu. ft. poly temper model from Menards, it lasted a few weeks before i had cracked it. Last time i used it, it was on its last leg. Hasnt been touched in awhile due to my injuries.. But while laying in my recliner today it came to mind, perfect.. Im down, perfect time to search for an 8 cu. ft. wheelbarrow tub. Anyone seen one? SO far, ive found this.. But there isnt a picture. I think i'll take the trip to the local Fastenal to see about getting a picture. 8 cu.ft. Steel Dual Wheeled Chassis Wheelbarrow | Fastenal Ive also found this, but this clearly is not a 8 cu. ft. tub. 20KP46 Wheelbarrow Steel 8 CU ft 2 Pneumatic | eBay
I think we have talked about it on here before, i know we have actually. Dont think anyone had any luck with finding an 8 footer yet though. Fingers crossed when i go to Fastenal on Monday. Guy is gonna look at me like why the heck do you need a wheelbarrow for, you cant hardly walk. hah! We'll see what i can find out.
I may be onto something here folks.. WESTWARD Wheelbarrow, 8 cu. ft. Capacity, Tray Material: Steel, Number of Wheels: 2 - Wheelbarrows - 20KP46|20KP46 - Grainger Industrial Supply
My previous job was sales for Fastenal, and I still have a great business relationship with my local store. I'll be looking to. Although I'd prefer a single wheel I think.
Split And unsplit wood. 6 trips with an 8 footer and I can move an entire Rick. If Grainger is good to go, I'll be picking up an 8 cu.ft steel model and a 10 cu.ft poly model.
I like the stability of the 2 wheel units but they aren't usually as maneuverable as the single wheeler. Is there any way to fix or line your cracked poly unit?
I'll post a picture of my poly tub and you can be the judge on if its repairable or not. LOL Give me a few to wonder outside.
The floor/bottom cracked first from tossing in a few pieces. I traced out the bottom of the tub onto a sheet of 3/16" aluminum plate and placed the plate between the handles and the tub. It must of been 3 days later when i knocked a corner out. Get the right piece of wood in there and it'll poke through the corner and rub on the tire.
That picture is of a 6ft model. I'll call them before i order anything. I'll also be picking up my order from theyre store.
How long did the first tub last? if it's been awhile maybe just replacing the tube is an cheap fix option. http://www.menards.com/main/outdoor...poly-tray-for-wheelbarrow/p-1444445282084.htm
Actually... hahahaha I had Gorilla tape wrapped around the top rim and then around the handles to keep it all together. After the floor went, and then the corner.. Those cracks just kept spreading. What really finished it off, if i remember correctly.. I had about 400-500lbs of unsplit logs in it, went to dump it and she just spread wide open after that. About 3 months from the time it was new to when i stopped using it. Of course when its warmer out, they will last longer. And also, of course they last longer if you have patients and can gingerly set each piece of wood into it slowly.
400 - 500 Lbs in a wheelbarrow?!?!! Hawlin that weight around in a wheel barrow would put me out of commission - Just sayin..... ever thought of using a wagon? Gpsfool
If you want the last wheelbarrow you will ever buy, look at Brentwood industries. Warning...As with all quality tools, they aren't cheap.
Cold , poly tub , and fire wood splits tossed don't mix- busted one up myself just that way- so now I place the splits in the tub going on 4 years now and it is powered drive under neath as well. Still the devil to pick up the back end though when fully loaded with round or splits.
I bought one of those cheapos too, the blue one at Lowe's. When it broke in a record short amount of time, after the warranty of course, I contacted the manufacturer. I asked them if they had a steel replacement. The first answer was no. I called back about a month later and asked if they had a steel replacement yet. In fact they did this time. I had to pay for it but the price with shipping was very fair. I don't think it is as big as the poly but I can overload it with wood anyway so I don't need a bigger one. See if you can get one so you don't have to waste your frame and spend $200 on a new one. I also bought one of these to add to my fleet: Truper Contractor Steel Wheelbarrow - Do it Best
