    Never met a diet I could like or stick with. Me, I have to make life style changes. A calorie is still a calorie, no mater when or how you eat it. I am currently loosing wt. No fun, no I don't like it, but I have to if there is any hope of getting my knees fixed and my blood pressure in control. So here is the secret. Portion control and exercise. Food, no processed food. That's the bulk of it. Want to loose 1 to 2 lbs a week. Need to cut 500 calories a day by eating less and exercising more. Don't stave, you body will go on strike and hang on to as much as it can.
    I don't eat rice cakes or Tufu. Yuk. Sprouts are good roasted with garlic and oil. Kale is OK in a smoothie with fruit.
    No fad diets. Over 95% end in failure and compromise your health. Most balanced diet, the maintenance diet of the South Beach diet plan. Support groups like Tops helps. www.tops.org.

    I eat quinoa every day, with light red kidney, white kidney(cannelloni), and black beans, + cubed/ browned chicken and seasonings... I have diverticulosis, so the high fiber dish is a must. Plus good protein from the quinoa and chicken... Need to lose beer belly(no help for the diverticulosis, for sure), strengthen the core to ease up the chronic lower back issues.

    Wow, I feel exposed:rofl: :lol::zip:

    :rofl: :lol: 52 is the new 40, or something like that ..

    I grew up in Louisiana, I know what eating's about. But I actually don't drink, or rather very rarely. I think there might be a bottle of wine in the house somewhere, someone gave it to us last Thanksgiving. But I do like to eat ... Gumbo anyone?

    The tastiest thing I ever ate in the "bush" in Africa was bush rat. I have no idea what the real name is, it looked like a big rat, and tasted great.

    De-hijacking ensues, basod.....
    I read the other day that all "whole" grains should be "sprouted" before eating them/combining in a recipe... My end of night $.02.
    Gumbo ain't unhealthy, bushpilot... Not totally.

    Ok, I'm done hijacking. :D

    The wife and I try to eat better. We eat vegetarian about half our meals, and our meats are from local organic farms. She bakes all our (whole grain) breads, and makes our cereals. We almost completely avoid high fructose corn syrup. I think the main thing for us is moderation and trying to avoid the heavily processed stuff.

    That said, I am 10-20 lbs over my ideal weight. I applaud those who try to eat right, it is a challenge these days.

    I am on the "eat whatever I want and work my azz of when feeling soft diet". 6'3" 185 lbs.

    But I also am young enough and won the genetic lottery.
